I love your writing and look forward to reading your stories so much! I have to say this one hit home. Your thoughts on resolutions have sparked a change in me. Just in time for 2024. Thank you for sharing, I will never forget your words and they will most definitely have an impact on my life moving forward.

So many things to love in here. I am because you are is top of the list. You know I love the deep winter honoring of loved ones and I also love the sense of turning in the seasons (not necessarily the year) to the new. But I’m with you on New Year’s resolutions. I saw a meme yesterday that said, “We’re opening a new fitness center. It will be equipped with workout machines for the first two weeks of January then convert to a wine bar for the rest of the year.” Imagine if everyone, taking a page out of your SubStack, just leaned into improving humanity in their immediate surroundings. Thanks again for another great post.

I love your subtitle "An invitation to possibility." It takes us a few steps above the horrors we see every day to imagine that better is possible.

But how do you really feel about New Year's Resolutions? LOL

I totally agree and that is not my favourite "holiday" of the year, so much unnecessary pressure. Intentions are real and have no firm rules around them so are totally the way to go! Keep up the good input, always enjoy reading your work.

Super solid writing, as usual. Btw, I read this piece this morning and thought it would resonate with you. https://kirstenpowers.substack.com/p/lets-make-2024-the-year-of-saying

Resolutions are about doing, whereas intentions are about being.

It's so easy to focus on doing, relentless doing, because that soothes our egos.

It's much harder to embrace the inherent messiness of being, to keep coming back to remaining open, even in spite of our broken tender hearts.

I LOVE this. Thank you for putting words on paper, like these, that matter, that make a difference, that I hear, and that I can receive & understand. I can literally hear your voice when I read your words. (I do miss you). But also....your photos. I wish I shot them ;) (I miss that too)!!

Every word grabbed my heart. Thank you. “We set an intention for a direction we want to follow.”
