Your writing really strikes a chord... having moved around and bought/sold and loved/tolerated places all over, your writing touched on those hidden desires and secrets, those un-spoken wants that I think we all have. Kudos to you all for doing this, for making it happen, and for taking the risks to please your hearts. What a place you've found... marido should be quite happy indeed!
LaDonna! I didn't know that this was happening! I've been out of touch for awhile. Congrats on the beautiful new farm, it sounds like a dream. A small farm is my dream too and hopefully my next move.
Oh my God….. I got emotional reading this. So happy for you guys. Can’t wait to see it. It looks absolutely amazing. I know you guys are going to be so happy there and in Portugal. Lilly
What a wonderful, inspirational post..I think it speaks to having faith, in yourself, your intuition, and the mysterious nature of the dream we live daily. As a fellow San Franciscan who just moved to Lisbon I have to say couldn't be happier for you and your family!
Oh, this! I can smell the countryside and feel your contentment in every bone of my body. I'm weeping a bit. Your journey of love—leaving the US and finding your heart; and now your soul, in Portugal, has been such an experience through your words. This—this is just the magical icing on your perfectly homemade baked life here. Congratulations to you all, and thank you for sharing this joy with us.
Such beautiful writing, you made us feel like we were right there. Beautiful house, light, tiles, everything. May you enjoy many happy decades there, just like the previous owner.
I remember those feelings when we bought our last home. The woodwork was stunning and it made me so happy every single day of the 10 years we lived in that home. Now we are renting and will move to Portugal in July. I have an adversion to noise and must have some personal space but also do want to walk to get some groceries if possible. Perhaps I need a city and a country home too. I think I will wait some time before we make a definite decision but am excited for our upcoming trip to tour schools and get a lay of the land. Congratulations and I can't wait to see more photos if you choose to share.
I look forward to these posts but this one hands down has to be my fave. Especially the piece about the former owner being a poet. Synchronicity.
Oh my gosh LaDonna.....CONGRATULATIONS!! What a beautiful story and a lovely new home. I'm so happy for you all!

"taut with sunlight" ... a slogan for any tomato company that knows what it's worth. Thank you for writing, LaDonna!
Thank you for reading, my friend.
Holy wow! Congrats on a dream come true. It sounds amazing! I love how you just go for it.
