Oh man! So much drama! You handled it so well! I would have been losing my mind! So glad FeeBea and Filha are reunited. All their photos together are so sweet. 💞
I so sympathize with that well-spoken feeling of "Your body wants to belong. But there's no place with your name on it." I feel like that every time I go back to the US and deal with that physical, mental struggle. It is a well known feeling and I cry every time I leave to come back, not because I am unhappy but because it's hard to leave family.
I am so glad that FeeBea and Filha are back together. I can honestly say when I got out of quarantine and saw Tazzy and Tally, my pups, I was so happy. So much joy in animals. I am glad you are all happy, and you are all healthy.
Wow, what an emotional rollercoaster, quite a stressful situation you found yourselves. So glad you were able to get FeeBea and to know that everybody is healthy.
What a great story, I'm glad it all worked out in the end, the official systems are rarely considerste of the living issues that surround the slow cogs of protocol. It took huge efforts of tennacity, well done to you all. Good luck for the future too.
Talk about living through a nightmare! Some of the best survived nightmares make for the best stories (later…sometimes much later.) I’m glad all turned out well! I love your writing and musings! Tell your daughter she created an excellent drawing of her BFF!
It *is* all ok and 100% worth it to have FeeBea here with us. Also, the pet shipper I worked with on the US side reassured me multiple times that she had shipped "hundreds of birds" in cargo over the years and never had a bird suffer ill effects. I mean, of course it's still nerve-wracking but according to the experts, it's safe!

Luckily, cockatiels are easier to move with, as far as I know. I believe budgies, peach-faced lovebirds, and cockatiels are the three pet birds NOT on the CITES list. So your paperwork should be MUCH easier. And, you know, I think losing a permit in a motorcycle crash on the way to the airport is a once-in-an-eon sort of disaster. It won't happen to you! (My source for cockatiels being exempt from CITES: https://www.petrelocation.com/blog/post/shipping-birds-feathers-beaks-and-a-whole-lotta-paperwork#:~:text=If%20you%20are%20moving%20with,right%20permits%20ahead%20of%20time.&text=Cockatiels%2C%20budgies%20and%20peach%2Dfaced,all%20exempt%20from%20CITES%20regulations.)
