Absolutely beautiful! I needed to read every word of this. Your daughter is lucky to have such a great mom!

Seems that working for something, and waiting for something, creates gratitude.

On a different note: Both of Filha's pictures seem to be climbing to the top of the world and cloud 9. Seems appropriate.

I love this! My eyes started filling and my heart was pumping harder at your words for precious Filha, but I didn’t start crying(I easily could have)while I could imagine that light at the end of this so called tunnel!

Remembering you all in prayers with much love! Hugs to Ladonna, stay the coarse!

I love sharing your stories with my wife and using them as a discussion/dreaming jumping off places for our move. I think we’ll be looking at private schools as well now… Had mainly considered international born out of fear. Def need more goats in our lives - esp for our goat loving 10yr old:)

I love this update so much. It's so heartwarming and wonderful to hear of the progress F is making at school and that you all are making in Portugal. It takes so much bravery to do what you are doing. Sending hugs from Portland.

It doesn't help that today was Jack's first day of school, but my goodness, this one got me. So beautifully articulated LaDonna. Big hugs.

You need to take all these stories and pictures you've taken of this grand adventure and put them together Into a book and sell it. Your stories and pictures of this whole experience is that good. For what it's worth I think you made a courageous, marvelous decision to totally put yourselves out there and go for it. Especially now with where this country is. I so wish I was younger and had more energy to do what you are doing. I'd move in a heartbeat. All the insecurities, uncertainties, struggles will also be tempered with times of lots of good times. You all are making memories that will last for a lifetime. Hold your heads high, keep your hearts open and keep making memories.

I cried when I read your daughter's comment, and I don't even like kids. Bad joke, I know, but hopefully you understand my thoughts. Sometimes it is tough...I had to go to the water company the other morning and try to explain our building was without water. I stumbled, asked the service agent to speak more slowly, consulted my translation app...but I must have communicated something, the water returned within hours.

This is so wonderful... Filha will have an even more amazing life thanks to your choices. And I'll bet she's fluent for next year's class. Still waiting for my Australian visa and while I won't have the learning curve you all have had, our goal is to have a little farm (Tasmania, someday?) with GOATS so this particular letter is an inspiration!

I was your daughter when I was 10. We moved from Germany to Saudi Arabia, where I was in a British school but spoke no English yet. I too had amazing classmates and teachers and it did not take long until i was fluent. It was the best thing that ever happened to me. I know it’s a struggle but i’m so excited for your daughter
